http://www.kirstensviewer.com/Kirstenlee Cinquetti, the creator of Kirstens Viewer, has implemented 3D in the viewer. I tested it at Alpha Point sim - you will need 3D (blue and red) glasses to see the full effect.
I found a pretty good framerate, switching off avatar impostor/shadows/water reflections/particles - and drawdistance was actually pretty much maxed out, as were my other settings.
Graphic cards: 2 xNvidia geforce 560GTXti, i7 (750) processor and 24 DDR3 GB ram. FPS was on average 22, not bad at all at this sim.
(btw make sure to visit Alpha Point).
