Reflection Freenote: this is our brief reflections on various issues in the field of evolutionary psychology
Reflection Freenote: evolutionary psychology views psychological issues through the lens of the evolved character of the human brain
Reflection Freenote: essentially, the midbrain is quite primal and designed by nature to be the "boss" in the brain neurologically
Reflection Freenote: we have very long educations, progressively, in civilization as we need to subjugate more and more of our most primal programming
Reflection Freenote: one of our interesting tendencies, primally, is to put enormous importance in "keeping up with the jones'"
Reflection Freenote: We often spend large amounts of our income on status symbols of various sorts
Reflection Freenote: and we have very strong tendencies to think that our quality as people has to do with the quality and quantity of our things
Reflection Freenote: so what really is the actual importance of our things, our possessions, and our status symbols. Why do we seem to need them so badly?

Reflection Freenote: what is it that we actually "need" I wonder?
nio Artful: we need love and comunication we need faith vision hope
Reflection Freenote: yes, people do tend to powerfully seek, love, and connection to a supportive group, but since we live without those things, I guess we might not actually need them
nio Artful: its like if i am deaf
nio Artful: you need to scream in order i listen

Sharry Ragu: yes.. nio.. that is my question.. and can we recognise it when we have more than we need?
nio Artful: i need to put my stereo very hihg to feel the music
Mikky Heron: a person needs basic food, shelter, clothing.. everything after that is just improvement of standard of life.. everyone here supports having more than we need, since we are on computers
Magrath Aeon: do we still speak about psychological needs?
nio Artful: everything starts with FEAR
Magrath Aeon: the psysical needs are very low
Magrath Aeon: it is good base
Sharry Ragu: Mikky, was there not an experiment with two babes.. one was held and comforted.. the other wasn't.. and it didn't end well for the isolated one...
Reflection Freenote: yes, Mikky about everyone here functioning in the range of preference, because they are on computers:))

Reflection Freenote: magrath, we are attempting to be very very accurate with the meaning of words, I think, so a "need" we are defining as something which is necessary for life
Reflection Freenote: yes, nio, anxiety, is a huge motivator in gathering things and status symbols
Mikky Heron: different social situations will promote different psychological outcomes, but the body stays alive.. what is best to have a "content" psychology opens up all sorts of other desires
Sharry Ragu: actually, I don't know if I am correct.. however the unurtured babe was impeded physically..
nio Artful: i mean that when we are AFRAID in uncertaines and we do not have A VISION and FAITH and HOPE....we PAIN
Reflection Freenote: so, Mikky, we tend to think that more stuff is better for our psychological quality of life, but I wonder if that is accurate?
nio Artful: SO we defent by hiding our counsiousnes under the ground
nio Artful: we lose the feeling of reality to feel less pain
