New SL/RL combined artworks by Gwen Difference!
"THE CENTER HOLDS THOUGH IT DOESN'T CONTAIN"
We have some wonderful new artworks on display in the main floor gallery at GRAG! Some pieces by the artist known as Gwen Difference in Second Life. These artworks are based off of a combination of inworld photography and images she drew in her real world art studio. She imported these images into Second Life, placed them as skins on her avatar, tweaked the eyes and shape of her avatar to accent the skin, and then used this “look” to generate a story.
She then chose the particular location for the inworld photoshoot to enhance the theme. This story became the focus for the series on display now at GRAG.
After taking these inworld photographs, she added another dimension to them using photo finishing software (Photoshop) to create a series of “morphs” between the inworld unadulterated photo, and a painterly affect from photoshop. She then imported these back into SL, set to prim, scripted the prims, and voila! Combined art in a back and forth "conversation" to present to you something deliciously beautiful, hauntingly disturbing, and always surreal....
