Apmels biblioteksrunda utgår från ett notecard han plockade på sig i det första biblioteket (The Caledon Library) han besökte. Ett bibliotek - The Library of Constantinople - kunde han inte hitta, men alla de övriga är värda ett besök.
The Alexandrian Free Library is a consortium of community-based libraries operating in Second Life.
We are affilitaed with the Second Life Library 2.0 and Information Island, but our services and practices are rooted in our communities, and draw our inspiration from the unique towns, villages, and nations we serve.
The principles of the AFL stipulate that, as librarians, we best serve our patrons if do everything in our power to have "open source" materials. That means we are committed to giving away information objects that are as full permissions as full permissions can be...full copy, full transfer and, expect when the format makes it impossible (e.g. THiNC books) fully modifiable.
Our libraries exist not just to give out information....put to encourage knowledge, creation, and every type of intellectual growth. So, if someone wants to take one of our collections, and add to it, or sort it out differently, or make something TOTALLY different out of it...great! They've just increaded the intellectual traffic on the grid.
So...take, read, play, enjoy! The Alexandrian Free Library salutes you!
